Documents for China: legalization and translation

Studying, working, marrying or settling in China, or need to file a document from China in Peru? We tell you the exact procedure and handle it for you.

Apostille

China is party to the 1961 Hague Convention, so Peruvian public documents are legalized with an apostille from Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and documents from China with an apostille from the competent authority in China.

Peruvian documents for use in China

  1. Obtaining the document (if you don't have it, we request it for you).
  2. Apostille of the original at Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  3. Certified translation into the language required in China, including the apostille.
  4. Digital delivery and/or shipping of the originals to China.

Documents from China for use in Peru

Documents issued in China must carry an apostille from China. If they are not in Spanish, they are filed in Peru with a certified or official translation. We handle the translation and, if needed, the apostille at source.

Frequently asked questions

Is the translation done before or after the apostille for China?

Usually the original is apostilled first and then everything is translated, including the apostille. Some institutions in China ask for the reverse order; we confirm before starting.
